ABOUT OAK VIEW Mission: To enrich the quality of life for Oak View residents by providing a secure, independent living environment which offers choices, freedom and peace of mind. Site: Oak View is located on 1.85 acres on the east side of Independence, Iowa, on the Buchanan County Health Center campus. It is situated on a beautiful site, highlighted by walking paths, a flower and vegetable garden, and an outdoor living area. Facility: Oak View features a formal dining room, fireside lounge, library, coffee shop, exercise area, activity/game areas and a heated parking garage with storage. There are 24 beautiful and spacious apartments of varying sizes including one-bedroom, two-bedroom and two bedroom/den units. Oak View was constructed without tax money or public funds with private financing made available through area banks.
FACTS ABOUT THE PEOPLE Organization: Oak View is owned and managed by Buchanan County Health Center and is governed by its' Board Of Trustees. Staffing: Oak View is managed on a day to day basis by Ann Peterschmidt. Her responsibilities include scheduling activities and sales and marketing of the units.
FACTS ABOUT THE PLAN Qualifications: Residents must be 55 years of age or older, physically capable of independent living, and financially able to afford residency. Fees: Residents pay an affordable one-time entrance fee. A percentage of that fee is refunded when the resident leaves. Monthly service fees include continental breakfast; indoor/outdoor maintenance; scheduled transportation; planned social, cultural and recreational activities; quarterly cleaning of apartments and use of the emergency call system. Additional services available include: daily noon meals, on site beauty salon, fitness center with indoor swimming pools, and easy access to outpatient and health care clinics. Newspapers & prescriptions can be delivered right to the apartment doors.
